Hand Feeding Formula  Kaytee Hand feeding formula – 4 cups, Jif Low sodium peanut butter – 3 tbss, All natural Apple sauce – 1 cup, All natural Apple juice – 1 quart, Water – 4 cups, Nutrical (high calorie supplement for cats and dogs) – 1/2 tube, 2 jars each of Gerber baby food – spinach, garden vegetable, carrots, sweet potatoes, squash, green beans, Mix kaytee formula, water, juice, applesauce, grebe rfood all together. Stir until powder is completely mixed in. Add peanut butter, and Nutrical. Microwave on high for 8 minutes, stir, microwave 8 minutes, stir, Microwave 8 minutes. Divide in to 1 cup servings and freeze in containers.  To thaw, microwave 4 minutes, stir, heat 25 seconds or until warm. Food will last in the refrigerator 2 days.   Parakeet Treat 4 oz. sunflower seeds (without the shells work best)1 cup cooked brown rice1/2 a tones container of sesame seeds2 hard-boiled eggs chopped4 oz grapes, quartered.  Mix all the ingredients together. This makes 4 cups worth of food. I freeze it in batches of 1 cup. My parakeets love it.      Rawhide, Nuts   Buy a rawhide dog bone, kool-aid and some nuts. Boil some water, when that is done put the rawhide and the kool-aid in the boiling water until the rawhide turns soft. Cut holes big enough in the rawhide to slip in the nuts but they cant slip out very easily and just let that dry! The bird will have fun pulling the nuts out and eating the fruit flavored and colorful rawhide strips!                                                                 Bird Bread 2 6 oz jars baby food sweet potatoes2 jars baby food tropical fruit1-1 1/2 cups pellets or 4 tablespoons hand feeding formula3 eggs and eggshells (crushed) Recycle pellets left in our birds’ bowls. Mix eggs and baby food. Use a little in a small blender/processor to crush the eggshells. Mix in remaining ingredients. Put in paper cupcakes or muffin tins- 4 teaspoons each. Microwave 1-2 mins until firm. Or bake in toaster oven at 400 degrees for 15 minutes till firm. Makes 12 servings. Serve warm, but not too hot. Cockatoos – 1 each,conures – 1/4 each. Save remainder in fridge and warm before serving.      Plain Treats 1 whole lettuce leaf1 cup of dry oat meal1 carrot (peeled)1/2 apple5 blueberries  Blend all the ingredients together until they are in a real fine paste. Scoop out the paste, set onto a plate Put it into a microwave for two minutes. Allow to cool off for 5 more minutes.    Bird Bars 3 ounces uncooked quick oats3 ounces other cereals (Shredded wheat crumbled or Grape nuts)1 cup evaporated skim milk1-cup applesauce (no sugar added)1/2 cup reduced calories margarine, melted1 cup of the following mix (unsalted chopped nuts, raisins, dates, dried fruit)1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar1 tsp cinnamon1 tsp baking soda Preheat oven to 350 F. In large bowl, combine cereals, add other ingredients and mix well. Spray 13 x 9 x 2 inch baking pan with nonstick spray. Bake for 30 minutes (until tester inserted in center comes out clean). Remove from pan and let cool on rack. Cut into 16 bars. Wrap each bar in plastic and freeze. Break one bar in pieces appropriate to bird size.
